CLEAN TALK: Lazy Cleaning Habits or Cleaver Shortcuts?

Clean Talk with Terri K

Facing My Lazy

Hey there, amazing moms!

I get it. My entire life, I felt like a “lazy slob.” It wasn’t so much that my family said it, but more about the personal comparison I made between what I accomplished and what others did. Turns out, I have ADHD, and some symptoms include time blindness and a disproportional view of tasks. Sound familiar?

Learning simple cleaning habits or “hacks” has been a game-changer for me. They’ve helped me break big projects into tiny tasks, making everything more manageable. The lightbulb moment for me was realizing that doing things now is MUCH faster than later. I saw an incredible video by @germaphobe&cleanfreak that showed how a melted popsicle takes 3 seconds to wipe up vs. a dried-on popsicle stick taking 3 minutes of hard scrubbing. So true, right?

Plus, clutter attracts clutter, creating a recipe for complete chaos. I lived in that kind of home for over 20 years before I woke up. Now, don’t think for a second that I’m perfect! I still put things off, but now I’m aware of the choice I’m making and often choose to do better.

What can you do to save time later or just make it look cleaner?

  • Use baskets to corral random items like throws or toys in main areas (hide the clutter).
  • Add dryer sheets inside decor to keep the room smelling fresh.
  • Toss ice cubes in the dryer to knock out wrinkles instead of ironing.
